StyleBell Scoop: Best Flat Irons of 2007
From the Editor
Cold weather can be especially hard on your hair. It’s subject to drying from super hot showers and static from being trapped inside big warm hats. It’s also under constant stress and damage from being brushed, pulled, twisted, blown, straightened and even tied up. For the most part we are gentle people, but really what we do with those hair brushes – GOSH! Why not give your hair a little TLC this winter? Find a gentle shampoo that doesn’t strip the natural oils, a deep conditioning treatment to replace the moisture and shine, and a good thermal protectant to protect your hair from the excessive heat of those hair appliances we love so much. Go ahead, give your hair a little TLC, you strands will thank you.
The Flat Iron IT List

“My fine hair needs body. What should I do? I have pin straight hair that is baby fine. How do I give it volume?” - Dianna via email
You’re not alone! It can be difficult to give volume to baby fine, pin straight hair, but lucky for you there are a lot of products on the market dedicated to adding body to your shall we say, voluminously challenged style? Start in the shower with a volumizing shampoo and conditioner combo such as Biolage Bodifying Shampoo and Biolage Bodifying Conditioner, but go easy on the conditioner. If your hair is limp all over, try a thickening boost spray, mousse or gel to add a little texture to your strands. Look for products with any or all of these buzzwords: Volumize, texture, lift, body, thicken, you get the idea.

Celeb Style we Love
How much do you love Jessica Alba’s hair? It’s got tons of body and volume and looks so “sexy without really trying”. Want to capture this look at home? No problem! Meet the Babyliss Ceramic Ionic Jumbo 5 Roller Set. The mega wide 1-1/2” rollers will give you those big glamorous curls in no time. Try a little Bumble and bumble Curl Conscious Creme before you use them to add a little extra texture to your strands, then fire up the Babyliss and curl away. Hint: For hard to hold hair; use a little Davines Defining Glam Power Finishing Spray while the curlers are setting to really ‘freeze’ the style. We’re talking va, va, va, VOOM volume.
It’s a common hair problem in the winter, especially if you whip off your hat too fast. And it’s never a good look. What to do? Try a dryer sheet! Yep, just rub a dryer sheet over your strands to keep static away! Who knew?
