Remy Hair Extensions: What are these?

Remy Hair, hair extensions, human hair, hair extension

I was sitting in a meeting and someone started talking about Remy Hair. Sometimes I feel like such a expert with hair but there are times when something new takes me by surprise! So I decided to so some research.

If you are in the hair extension business or have had hair extensions you may have heard this common term thrown around. I immediately realized that Remy Hair was good. Remy Hair is a type of hair used in the hair extension. Remy Hair is the top quality, Grade A of human hair. It is a raw, virgin hair in which the cuticles are not stripped away and all of the hair strands are going in the same direction.

What is the difference from regular hair? When processing regular hair, hair gets washed in a acid-bath, sometimes called cuticle stripping.  They do this so the hair can look similar and even, obtaining the desired standard texture.  After the acid bath, silicones are then applied to keep the hair looking shiny and sleek. The issue with this is once you wash the hair the silicones start to dissipate leaving the hair matted, wild and tangled. Not fun if you paid a ton of money for your hair extensions.

Remy Hair is the natural form of the hair. No acid-wash needed since all of the cuticles are going in the same direction. What you see is what you get. This is the healthiest, shiniest, smoothest of hair.

If you are looking for the best in hair extensions I would ask the salon about Remy Hair.
