Can you believe it’s February already? Valentine’s Day is right around the corner and I can’t wait to spend some time with my hubby. We haven’t decided if we are going out for dinner yet, but we both agree that we’re definitely having dessert. Preferably something decadently rich, gooey and overloaded with chocolate! It’s a good thing that Valentine’s Day calories don’t count. Happy Valentine’s Day!
P.S. Shopping for your sweetie? Our Valentine’s Day Gifts section is open for all you lovebirds. Remember, nothing says “I love you” like a high-tech hair appliance and maybe a few chocolate hearts.
Celeb Style we Love
Sarah Jessica ParkerEveryone loves style maven Sarah Jessica Parker. Her contributions to today’s fashion trends seem as endless as her charm and ever changing hairstyle. We all know SJP has naturally curly hair, but look how silky and straight she gets it. Maybe her stylist has the ghd MK4 1-inch Ceramic Flat Iron? It’s one of the most popular flat irons on the market (and on our best flat iron list), and superior when it comes to smoothing thick, curly hair like hers. For this look, try a little Beyond Straight Temporary Relaxing Fluid to relax the curls and add thermal protection before straightening, then fire up the ghd MK4 and accept your compliments gracefully like SJP. (BTW we’re smitten with Bitten too!)
Ask an Expert
“I have a CHI right now and I have used every brand of heat protectant and nothing seems to work. My hair is breaking and splitting even though I only use my flat iron twice a week. Is it my iron or my protectant?” - Keoika, via email
Hi Keoika, it sounds like both. To control the breakage you should start using a restructuring treatment such as Redken Extreme CAT Protein Treatment to strengthen your hair from the inside out. Then to keep your hair healthy and protected before you turn up the heat, find a thermal protectant suited for your hair type. In your case I suggest ghd Thermal Protecting Spray - Weak/Damaged Hair. Next, if you only use your iron twice a week and you have breakage, most likely you are using the wrong iron for your hair type. Keep in mind that not all flat irons work the same for everyone because everyone’s hair texture is so different. Makes sense, right? If your hair is already prone to breakage, you should consider investing in a flat iron that straightens your particular hair type with less passes. Read more.

Frizzy Hair Tip
Are you plagued by the frizzies? Try Aloe Vera! Squeeze a little gel out from one of the leaves and apply to your palms. Then rub your hands together and run them through your hair, especially the ends. Nice and smooth… and frizz-free. It’s the plant that keeps on giving.
